As RBI Governor Urjit Patel released his maiden Monetary Policy statement, Twitterati responded with several lighter comments on the manner in which he handled the press.
The RBI had allotted a 15 minutes for the press conference, from 2.45 pm to 3 pm. As soon as the clock struck 3, Patel reminded the scribes of the schedule, and agreed to take one last question.
“Man. This guy is strict. Last question, 3 pm now,” tweeted Deepak Shenoy, founder of Bengaluru-based Capital Mind
One of Shenoy’s followers chipped in quoting Circuit, a character from the Munnabhai series: “ Shuru hote hi khatam ho gaya ”. (It ended as soon as it began).
Another user, Saiswaroopa Iyer, said: “For a change Twitter decides to talk about #RBIPolicy and not about the looks and appearance of the RBI governor. Restores trust in humanity.”
Rakesh Shah was all for brevity. “I like new RBI gov. Precise and Swift. Surgical opinions.”
