State Bank of India opened two more branches in the city on Monday.

It is planning to open four more branches and set up 25 more ATMs during the current financial year, according to C.R Sasi Kumar, Chief General Manager of the Hyderabad circle.

He was speaking here to reporters after inaugurating the two branches — one at Baji Junction and the other at Seethammadhara.

He said that the total number of branches had gone up to 75 with these two new branches and the bank had set up so far 167 ATMs in the city. “We have 30 per cent market share in deposits and 25 per cent in advances in the city,’’ he said.

Sasi Kumar said that the bank had opened several specialised branches in the city — NRI branch, overseas branch for exporters and importers, SME branch and a Kohinoor branch for high networth individuals.

He said that SBI was doing very well in the retail segment with a market share of 35 per cent in home loans and 28 per cent in car loans. The bank has set up two processing cells in the city for speedy sanction and disbursement of loans.

He said the Samaikhyandhra agitation had to an extent affected the functioning of the bank in the coastal districts and Rayalaseema, as some of the branches had to be shut down on some days due to strikes, and there was also the general impact on loan disbursement and deposit mobilisation.

“We hope normality will be restored soon,’’ he said.

Manoj Khattar, Deputy General Manager of the Visakhapatnam circle, also spoke.
