Talks between Samsung and CITU leaders, representing workers from the Samsung India Thozhilalargal Sangam, failed to yield any resolution on Wednesday despite discussions with labour department officials. The workers are demanding the reinstatement of three employees suspended by the company. However, Samsung has refused to revoke these suspension orders, leading to continued tensions.
Earlier, a tri-partite meeting last week failed to bring an end to the strike at the company’s Sriperumbudur factory. In addition to the issue of suspensions, Samsung revealed plans to take action against 18 more workers, which the union deemed unacceptable. The company stated it remains committed to resolving issues through direct engagement with employees, emphasising that those who violate company policies will face disciplinary action. Meanwhile, the union plans to escalate the protest in Sriperumbudur this weekend and intensify agitation in Kancheepuram tomorrow.
