In a unique use of technology, a 3D holographic device, which creates a virtual flame has been integrated in the War Memorial in Bhopal unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 3 D holographic unit has been developed by the Hyderabad-based Trikona Technologies Ltd. “Its a rare instance that the unit is being used in an outdoor situation. It has to sustain all weather conditions and should give a bright flame continuously. We have tailor made the device for the project”, said C Jagan Mohan, its Managing Director.

The firm provides 3D Holographic devices for Indian Navy as well as corporates. The technology finds application in various sectors like industry, entertainment, defence, security and education. Started in 2010, the company is also into image processing and colouring old films. A popular black & white classic Telugu film, Maya Bazar, was coloured by it.

Bhopal project genesis The entire designing to the final product delivery took the company 40 days. The device has been installed in the Shaurya Smarak, a memorial built to honour the country’s brave heart martyred soldiers inaugurated recently.

“We got a call a year back from a Uttam C Jain, reputed architect from Mumbai, explaining the need for a virtual flame instead of actual flame for the war memorial project coming up in Bhopal. An actual flame has many issues. Starting from digging deep for gas line and setting up huge number of gas cylinders or live gas connection and finally it has to confront environmental issue. Therefore, the preference for using holographic technology”, he told BusinessLine.

Most of the noted memorials like the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, Shakthi Sthal of Indira Gandhi in New Delhi have pipelines connected and run with gas cylinders. All that the holographic device requires is electricity expenditure. The company made prototypes of various sizes and options. Finally, a 4-sided outdoor model was selected. The device showcases a burning flame in thin space inside a prism. it is a completely ‘Make in India’ product, Jagan Mohan claimed.
