There will a repeat of Marina revolution if the Union Environment Ministry’s notification to ban the sale of cattle for slaughter is not withdrawn immediately, warned MK Stalin, Working President of Tamil Nadu’s main Opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
The 'revolution' was in reference to the recent Jallikattu protest that started in Marina but spread quickly across the State. A similar protest will happen if the ban is not withdrawn, he said.
Leading a protest against the Centre’s decision in North Chennai, Stalin said the ban is against the fundamental rights of an individual’s freedom to eat. “We strongly condemn Centre’s action on the ban,” he said.
Today’s protest is only a beginning. If the ban is not withdrawn, the DMK will stage protests across the State, he said.
