The Central Bureau of Investigation is confident of bringing Vijay Mallya back from the United Kingdom after the Westminister Magistrates’ Court ordered his extradition on Monday.
Both the CBI and Mallya now have 14 days to file an appeal in a higher court of law.
Taking a jibe at the previous regime, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “Great Day for India. No one who cheats India will go scot free…The Judgement of UK’s Court is welcome. An offender benefited during the UPA. The NDA brings him to book.”
Expressing confidence in the court’s decision, the CBI said, “We welcome the decision and hope to bring Vijay Mallya back soon. CBI has its own inherent strengths. We worked hard on this case. CBI was always strong on facts and legally we were confident while pursuing extradition process.”
