The Supreme Court today rejected a plea to make Prime Minister a party in the FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the coal case.
It dismissed the plea seeking direction to Prime Minister to file affidavit on coal block allocation.
The probe is still going on and it is for CBI officials to look into it, the apex court said.
The Centre has opposed in the apex court granting of ex-officio power of Secretary to CBI Director, allowing him to directly report to Minister.
The court has asked the CBI to file a fresh status report by January 9, 2014.
It allowed the CBI to share its status report with two in-house prosecutors before their presentation in court.
The CBI told the Supreme Court that it is yet to get two Coal Ministry files including one on minutes of the screening committee.
