Member of International Court of Justice and eminent jurist Justice Dalveer Bhandari has called for comprehensive reforms in the educational system, especially in higher education.
“It is the need of the hour to set up an Education Commission under eminent academicians to bring in reforms (in the education sector),” Bhandari said at the convocation ceremony of the Barkatullah University here yesterday.
Bhandari also lamented that there was no Indian university that figures in the list of top 100 universities in the world. “There are only three Indian universities among the top 500,” he said.
Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav urged the students to always keep the country’s welfare on their priority.
He said that today’s students lack tolerance and modesty and “need to be educated in character—building and values.”
