“Many would say that time is gold; but, for me, it is life. It is as precious as anything that one keeps close to one’s heart and one should learn to manage it in winning ways,” said Haniffa Mohamed Riaz, Managing Director, Arasan Group of Companies, Tirunelveli.
He was delivering a lecture on ‘Time Management’ at a meeting of the Business Line Club of the Post-graduate Department of Management Studies, Anna University, Tirunelveli Regional Centre (TRC), Tirunelveli, recently.
The event was sponsored by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB), Tuticorin.
He said, “If you want to realise your goals, you should act on time; any procrastination in taking a decision and adhering to the same on a time-bound plan of action will result in disappointment. The act of procrastination is a sin and the real villain in life. Many choose to act only under pressure. Many fail to realise the importance of time and how to make the best use of the same.”
He said that if one had a goal to achieve, an intent has to be there first and a mechanism of follow-up action will have to be pursued to achieve the same.
Referring to Steve Jobs Debbie Fields, entrepreneur who founded Mrs Fields Bakeries in the US, he urged students to dream and dream big. Tomorrow’s dreams are built in today’s sacrifices and short-term pain breeds long-term benefits. Prepare the dream list, for dreamers only turn into visionaries later, he added. Earlier, L. Senthiveerasamy, Regional Manager, TMB, explained the schemes offered by the bank and steps taken by the bank in education and entrepreneurship.
Prof Dr. V. Sundareswaran, Regional Director, Anna University, TRC and Dr S.Sila Sargunam, Head of the Department, spoke. S.Vignesh of the Department delivered the vote of thanks.
