Centre for Development Studies (CDS), a think-tank based here, has announced fellowship schemes in memory of late K.N. Raj, an economist of renown.
“CDS is privileged to launch this in Raj’s memory on the basis of a generous grant made available to it by the State government,” a spokesman for the centre said.
SCHEME DETAILS
First in the series is a teaching resources grant for teachers of economics. Under this scheme, teachers of economics from any university or recognised secondary school may spend up to a period of one month, the duration of the fellowship, at the centre.
The research grant for researchers in economics is open for researchers in economics, journalists or development practitioners.
They may spend up to a period of three months at the centre to write a chapter of their doctoral dissertation, prepare a research paper, or complete a book.
The number of fellowships available per calendar year is five in each of the two schemes.
Facilities
The fellowship consists of a travel grant from the place of residence to CDS and back, rent-free accommodation and boarding at the CDS guest house/ hostel and a grant to procure books and other research materials.
As per the provisions of the grant by the Government of Kerala, teachers and researchers based in the State will be given preference.
