The Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) and the Delhi Technological University (DTU) have signed a memorandum of understanding for enhanced academic interaction and research and development at INMAS, at the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in New Delhi.
The collaboration is to include applied research and projects. Under the joint INMAS-DTU programme, academic, applied research and biomedical product development programmes are to be conducted.
The agreement is to aid in bridging the gap between graduating engineering and professional engineers as well as reduce the gap between lab level research and the research required by the industry in developing new technologies.
The fruits of the joint collaborations are meant to help the Indian Armed Forces. The agreement would initially be for a period of five years and can be mutually renewed.
The agreement is aimed at fostering interactions between INMAS and DTU in areas of mutual interest to enhance the value of research and training at both places. There will be an exchange of scientists and faculty and students between the participating institutions.
The agreement allows the two Institutions to conduct joint projects including courses and training. Research students working at the Life Sciences labs of DRDO may register for PhD degree to be awarded by DTU under joint supervision. The bye-laws of DTU governing the admission and award of PhD degree are to apply.
