The Company Secretaries' Institute has revised the existing two Secretarial Standards on 'Meetings of the Board of Directors' and ' General Meetings'.
The revised standards are to come into effect from October 1, 2017, sources close to the developments said.
The Corporate Affairs' Ministry had in June this year given its nod for the revised SS-1(Secretarial Standards on Meetings of the Board of Directors) and SS-2 (Secretarial Standard on General Meetings).
The current version of SS-1 and SS-2 will be withdrawn from September 30, 2017, sources said.
It may be recalled that the new Secretarial Standards issued in the year 2015 had not gone well with India Inc, which saw them as adding to the cost of compliance and even militating against the concept of 'ease of doing business'.
