The Triple Talaq Bill is set to come up discussion in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The Bill aims to make the practice of instant triple talaq among Muslims an offence under the Indian Penal Code, with a provision of three-year jail term for the husband. The Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 17, will replace the ordinance issued by the Central government in September, banning the practice. 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will conduct an open market operations (OMO) bond purchase of Rs 15,000 crore on Thursday. It will be conducted through multi-security auction using the multiple price method. This is the fourth OMO bond purchase announced by the RBI since the bi-monthly policy statement on December 5, 2018.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu is on a tour of the Kadapa district. He will lay the foundation stone for the proposed steel plant, to come up at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore at the Kambaladinne village in Mylavaram mandal. 

The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering, will visit India from December 27 to December 29. He was invited by his Indian counterpart Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tshering will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Economic Affairs and other senior officials from the Royal Government of Bhutan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending a mega rally in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. About 20,000 BJP workers from Himachal Pradesh are likely to participate in the event, which celebrates one-year of the present state government. This comes after the defeat of the BJP in five states in the recent Assembly elections.
