The Madras High Court today granted interim anticipatory bail to former Telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran, prime accused in the illegal telephone exchange case.

Justice R Subbaiah granted bail for six weeks, subject to the condition that Maran appears before the CBI tomorrow and cooperate with the agency in the investigation to the case.

Earlier, the Madras High Court had granted bail to the three officials of Sun TV, who were arrested by CBI in connection with the case.

The three were V Gowthaman, former additional private secretary of Maran, Chief Technical Officer S Kannan and electrician L S Ravi.

CBI has alleged that more than 300 high-speed telephone lines were provided at Maran’s residence and extended to his brother’s SUN TV channel to enable its uplinking.

It has named Maran and BSNL officials in the FIR filed in October 2013 following a preliminary inquiry in which the agency claimed to have found enough material to proceed with a regular case against the former minister.
