iB Hubs, a Delhi-based start-up incubator hub, is planning to build 2,500 small incubators in the country in major cities and in tier-II and III cities in the next two years.
“There will be 500 nodes in cities and towns with each of them connected to all the 2,000 units. This will work on hub and spoke model,” Rambabu, Chief Financial Officer of iB Hubs, told BusinessLine .
All-round support“We will take the start-ups quite early on and help them build the product by providing the necessary support in all aspects. We are currently incubating nine start-ups,” he said.
Besides handholding them in building the products, the firm is also planning to fund some of the start-ups that it incubated. Though the firm was under works for over two years, it went live in November 2016 with 165 employees working for it.
“We currently have operations in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Lucknow,” he said.
In Hyderabad to attend the BioAsia-2017, Rambabu said the firm had received commitments to raise ₹50 crore over the next three years.
Overseas expansionThe firm is also planning to open start-up outreach centres in countries such as the US, the UK, Singapore and Dubai.
Sai Sasank Parimi, Chief Operating Officer (Andhra Pradesh), said a good number of the incubator hubs would come up in the two Telugu States.
“We would like to find and nurture talent in the smaller towns and help them give equal support that their peers get in the bigger cities,” he said.
