Prime Minister on Sunday addressed the nation through his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. In the 49th edition of the programme, PM said, coming October 31 India will get its "Statue of Unity" on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

"The statue, twice the size of America's "Statue of Liberty" and tallest in the world will be set up on the banks of Narmada river in Gujarat," said Modi.

He also urged the citizens to run for unity.

As the nation observed Infantry Day on Saturday, PM said that he salutes all those who are in Indian Army and their family members. During the radio address, he also explained that Infantry is the very day when Indian forces landed in Kashmir and saved the nation from the clutches of aggression.

PM Modi also payed tribute to the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi as October 31 is also her death anniversary. "The October 31 is also is the death anniversary of our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. My respectful tributes to Indira ji", he said.

In the address, PM also congratulated the para athletes who made the country proud by winning the medals.

India will be hosting the Men's Hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneswar, which will start from November 28 and continue till December 16. PM said, "India has had a golden history in Hockey.”

Speaking on the World War One, which will complete 100 years this November 11, PM said, "Though India had no direct connection with the war, our soldiers showed to the world that when it comes to bravery they are not behind anyone".

He also talked about North-East, PM said "The beauty of North East is unparallel and people there are also talented. Our North East now is now also known for various best deeds".

Sikkim recently won Future Policy Gold Award, 2018 for encouraging sustainable food system. "This award is given by UN body ‘Food & Agriculture Organisation’ – FAO. This best policy making award is equivalent to Oscar," said PM.
