Karvy Computershare has launched ‘InstaPoll’, a voting system on tablets that converts the smart device into a ballot box during shareholder meetings.

The voting system was launched at Reliance Industries’ 40th AGM held in Mumbai in Wednesday, where existing systems of physical voting, counting and reporting was replaced with voting on tablets.

C. Parthasarathy, Chairman, Karvy Group said: “RIL was the first to seek this service. The shareholders were able to vote using this state-of-the-art technology solution and we look forward to seeing it in action. InstaPoll will have an instant and direct impact on our clients and their shareholders.”

Some of the features of InstaPoll include simplified, electronic poll administration for corporate meetings such as AGMs, reduced time to carry out and count important votes and speedy publication of vote results. It also offers scalability to cope with any vote requirements — from 100 attendees to 1 million — along with increased security and accuracy due to secure, online tabulation and encryption.

“A company can complete its entire AGM voting process in less than an hour with complete convenience and transparency,” said V Ganesh, CEO Karvy Computershare.
