Marubeni Corporation has expressed its interest in establishing a state-of-the-art, next-generation industrial park in the Future City being developed in Telangana. A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed and exchanged between Marubeni and the State government in Tokyo on the first day of the official visit of the Telangana Rising delegation, led by the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, to Japan.
Marubeni also submitted a proposal outlining the establishment of the park. Following the discussions between the State delegation and Marubeni’s top management, the Japanese corporate house has proposed an initial investment of ₹1,000 crore to develop the industrial park in phases across 600 acres in Future City.
The park will be dedicated to Japanese and other multi-national companies for setting up their manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹5,000 crore.
The Marubeni Industrial Park will focus on sectors like electronics, green pharma, precision engineering, aerospace, and defence - areas that align closely with Telangana’s vision of attracting foreign investments in advanced manufacturing and generating skilled employment opportunities, the statement said.
Reddy said, “The Marubeni Industrial Park will be among the first of its kind to be developed in the proposed ‘Future City’. It is expected to create 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.”
The delegation also visited the headquarters of Sony Corporation on Thursday. Officers of the Sony Corporation showcased several new initiatives and detailed their workings, including new products. The delegation also held discussions on the animation subsidiary of the company, Crunchyroll. It explained the strengths of Hyderabad in the animation, VfX and Gaming sectors.
Reddy outlined his vision on the setting up of a modern film city, which would have the capability of end-to-end production.
