Bankers’ Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Mangaluru, a training institution established by Nabard, will extend training programmes in new areas such as data analytics and cyber security in 2018-19.
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, K Lakshminarayanan, Joint Director of BIRD-Mangaluru, said the institute plans to conduct 120 training programmes covering around 3,500 stakeholders in core focus areas such as microfinance and livelihoods, financial inclusion and financial literacy and other areas related to agriculture and rural development.
In addition to this, BIRD plans to focus on new areas such as data analytics, forensic accounting and auditing, cyber security, and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code in 2018-19.
The institute conducted 119 capacity building training programmes with a footfall of 3,140 rural bankers, government officials and NGO professionals in 2017-18.
He said that the institute also designs and conducts customised training programmes for its client institutions on their request. It conducted 19 such programmes for client institutions such as cooperative banks in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during 2017-18.
