Thirty-five fresh cases of dengue, the highest for a single day this season, were reported in the capital today, taking the total number of those hit by the virus to 298.

Of the 35 new cases, two cases were reported from NDMC areas in the capital while the others were reported from South, North and East Delhi municipality areas.

Except Narela and Sadar Paharganj, all the other zones in the city reported fresh cases today, according to figures from all three MCDs.

Out of the 298 cases, four cases have been reported from outside Delhi. A nine-year-old girl died due to dengue last month.

Last year, the capital saw 216 cases of dengue, including eight originating from outside, and three deaths. In 2010, there were 4,108 cases, including 24 from outside, and five deaths while the figures for 2009 were 29 dengue cases but no deaths.
