The Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Corporation is expecting to log sales turnover of Rs 83 crore in the current financial year.
The State-owned corporation, which earned a sales turnover of Rs 76 crore last fiscal, has announced payment of 5 per cent dividend from its profits.
The Minister for Major Industries, Sugar, Commerce and Export Promotion, J. Geeta Reddy, today handed over the dividend to the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. She was accompanied by the Corporation Managing Director Sailaja Ramayyar.
The Corporation, which started with a turnover of Rs 76 lakh in 1982, has been growing steadily and achieved record sales of Rs 76 crore during fiscal 2011-12, she said in a press release.
It is the only State handicrafts corporation in the country paying dividend to the Government. The corporation has been doing so since 2003-04. It is implementing various welfare schemes for the artisan community in the State including old age pension, training programmes, exhibitions and marketing of handicrafts produced in Andhra Pradesh through Lepakshi Emporia.
