The IT industry here has sought uninterrupted power supply and urged the State Government to fulfil its promises on the score.
In a press release issued here on Thursday, O. Naresh Kumar, Vice-President of Rushikonda IT Park Association, said the State Government had issued a GO on uninterrupted power supply to the industry, but the promise was not being kept. He said the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd had issued a notice asking the industry not to use more than 60 per cent power during day time and not more than 10 per cent during night.
He said the IT industry was earning more than Rs 38,000 crore in the State and it was not fair to impose such restrictions on such an important industry. He said the Government should either implement the GO on continuous power supply or withdraw it.
He said senior IAS officers were manning the department and yet there was no planning and the industry was being informed of power restrictions at the last minute.
Naresh Kumar said APEPDCL here had recorded the lowest transmission losses of 1.7 per cent. Tariff should be linked to transmission losses, he added.
