Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s Paddy Breeding Station (PBS) has been adjudged the best coordinated rice improvement project centre in the country for its accomplishments in rice physiology research. The station was selected by ICAR for the award from among 14 rice physiology centres across the country. Incidentally, the PBS in Coimbatore was the first rice experimental station established in the country in 1912. JS Chauhan, Additional Director General (Seeds), ICAR, presented the award in Hyderabad earlier this month, a TNAU release said.
