To capture the experience of Public Accounts Committees in other Parliaments and identify good practices, PAC Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi will attend a study group meeting at Victoria, British Colombia, Canada from November 6-12. The meeting, organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the World Bank, will discuss the importance of PACs, their legislative oversight and public finance management, besides critical challenges in smaller and fragile states.
Joshi will preside the session on ‘Current Challenges and Emerging Trends’ on November 8, a release issued by the PAC office said. Among other things, the study group meet will also do a peer review and provide guidance on new avenues of inquiry to enhance PACs’ performance.
