Minster for Culture K.C. Joseph has released the logo of Mural City Project at the Press Club here.
Kottayam will be declared a mural city at the concluding day of the International Mural Painters’ Camp organised as part of the project which will commence on May 13, said K.A. Francis, Kerala Lalithakala Academy Chairman.
Kottayam will become the second mural city in the country after Shekhawati in Rajasthan.
Around 20 places have been selected for mural paintings which include temples, churches and public places in Kottayam. About 350 artists from various places in India will attend the camp. The colours red, yellow, green, black and white required for mural paintings, known as ‘panchavarnam,’ have been prepared using traditional methods.
Another exhibition consisting of 18 acrylic paintings by T.S. Prasad is now under way at Kottarathil Sankunny Smaraka Cultural Centre, Sanker, principal, KSS School of Painting, said. The exhibition titled ‘Veettilekkulla Vazhi’ – The Way Home – is dedicated to the memory of late poet D Vinayachandran.
