Mukteshwar, Auli and Gursaun also received heavy snowfall coming under 4 inches of snow by this evening, the weatherman said.
Places like Joshimath in Chamoli district also lay under a thick sheet of snow.
Heavy snowfall in the hills brought rains to the plains with most places like Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Rudrapur receiving incessant showers.
A light drizzle which began late last night in Dehradun continued throughout the day today forcing people to remain indoors.
