The Telangana Government will hire 1,240 people for the ambitious Water Grid project that seeks to provide drinking water and water to agriculture and industries. The Rs 25,000-crore project will be implemented in phases to cover the whole of the 10 districts by 2018.

“We will recruit 1,240 posts exclusively for the project. For now, we have received sanction for about 530 regular posts and the remaining on contract,” Panchayat Raj and Information Technology Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has said.

“We are targeting to provide safe drinking water to all habitats in the State by 2018,” the Minister said after a review meeting here on Saturday.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao had formally started works on a pylon in Nalgonda district, marking a symbolic beginning to the project.
