The AIADMK-led alliance today released the list of 40 constituencies (39 in Tamil Nadu and the lone Puducherry seat), in which various alliance parties will fight in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held in the State on April 18.
The AIADMK will contest in 20 constituencies; PMK in seven; BJP in five; DMDK in four and the Tamil Maanila Congress, Puthia Tamizagam, Puthia Needhi Katchi and NR Congress in one seat each. AIADMK coordinator O Paneersevelvam released the list in the presence of chief minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami and BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan.
Constituencies
The constituencies where the AIADMK will fight are: Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Erode, Karur, Tiruppur, Pollachi, Arni, Tiruvanamalai, Chidambaram (reserved), Perambalur, Theni, Madurai, Nilgirs, Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam, Myladudurai, Tiruvallur, Kanchiupuram and Chennai (south).
The PMK will contest in Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Arakonam, Cuddalore, Chennai (Central), Dindugul and Sriperumbudur while the BJP will contest in Kanyakumari, Sivagangai, Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi.
The DMDK has been allotted Kallakuruchi, Tiruchirapalli, Chennai (north) and Virudunagar. The Tamil Mannila Congress will fight in Thanjaur while Puthiaa Tamizagam in Tenkasi; Puthia Needhi Katchi in Vellore and the NR Congress in the lone Puducherry constituency.
Speaking to newspersons, Paneerselvam said the party is holding interviews for the 18 Assembly constituencies today, and would announce the list of candidates after that. The assembly election is also held along with the Lok Sabha elections.
