Amaravati likely to emerge as a major IT centre : Minister

The new capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati, is likely to emerge as a major IT centre in future, according to State IT and Panchayat Raj Minister Nara lokesh.

He was speaking after inaugurating seven IT and ITES companies at Medha IT towers opposite Vijayawada airport on Wednesday. He said one lakh jobs would be generated in the IT sector in the state.

The Minister, the son of the Chief Minister recently inducted into the State Cabinet, claimed that within one month after assuming office he could provide 7000 jobs including 1650 in the newly inaugurated companies and 5,000 in HCL. He said that the state government had been giving priority for skill development programmes to provide employment opportunities to local youth.

He said the seven IT companies - Antolin, IES, Rotomaker, Chandu soft, Melsova, EP soft, and Yamyah IT solutions - were dealing in high end automotive interiors designing, IT consultancy, digital educational services, and IT/ITES services. He said an ideal IT eco system would be developed in Andhra Pradesh. He said that the Millennium tower in Visakhapatnam would be completed by August.

He said better connectivity was important for development of IT industry and added that the state government would discuss with Union Minister of civil aviation Ashok Gajapati Raju introduction of international flights from Vijayawada airport within six months.

Later, the Minister also participated in a seminar organised by HCL, which recently signed a MoU with the State Government for training youth in the State for the IT sector.
