The 50-year-old Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) gets a new name. The Telangana Government has named the university after late Prof Jayashankar, who stood for the Telangana movement throughout his life.
The Government released an order here on Thursday changing the name of the university. It now will be called Acharya Jayashankar Agricultural University. Established in 1964, Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University was renamed as ANGRAU in 1996, acknowledging contributions of N G Ranga to the farm sector.
The government also changed the name of the Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University in Hyderabad. It now will be called P V Narasimha Rao Veterinary University. It said it would establish yet another university in the State and name it after the former prime minister.
