The per capita income in the residual State of Andhra Pradesh for 2013-14 (as per provisional estimates) is pegged at Rs 85,797, registering a growth of 13.9 per cent over Rs 76,041 during 2012-13 as against All India average of Rs 74, 380.

The per capita income is an indicator for assessing the standard of living of people. It shows a mixed trend across 13 districts of the new State during 2012-13, with nearly half of the districts registering less than the State average of Rs 76,041. Visakhapatnam with Rs 1,13,860 stands tall among the 13 districts with Srikakulam at the lowest level.

The State Economic Survey for 2013-14 released by the State Planning Department and placed in the Assembly today shows that the Gross State Domestic Product was at Rs 2,50,282 crore, up 6.08 per cent as per provisional estimates.

The district wise analysis shows that while Visakahpatnam, Krishna and East Godavari have high district income levels, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam were at the lowest in terms of income level.

The services sector contribution to the State economy has gone up from 48.54 per cent in 2004-05 to 55.96 per cent in 2013-14 and the agriculture income has come down from 29.85 per cent in 2004-05 to 23.33 per cent now. During the same time, industry contribution was down from 21.61 per cent to 20.71 per cent.

The State’s total outstanding debt by the end of 2012-13 was put at Rs 1,52,469 crore, which comes to 20.21 per cent of GSDP.  This is well within the permissible limit of the outstanding debt cap of 28.9 per cent of the AP Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act.

The interest payment against Government debt has gone up to Rs 11,662 crore in 2012-13. The outstanding Central loan as a proportion of the total debt is 11.35 per cent with the market borrowings constituting another 60.14 per cent.

The Economic Survey for the divided State with 13 districts is being presented for the first time. It does not include the seven mandals of Khammam district which have been recently added to the State.
