The Mangalore branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrated its 64th foundation day here recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Susir Kumar, chairman of Serco Global Services, Mumbai, highlighted the opportunities and challenges of starting a global business. He urged chartered accountants to help their clients build global brands, and advise them on hedging business and currency risks.
Mr Seemant Kumar Singh, Commissioner of Police, Mangalore, said that the CAs take care of the health of the economy, which, in turn, has an impact on the social and political structure of society. He said there is a link between CA and police as both seek to enforce law, though the methods may be different.
Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of the Moodbidri-based Alva’s Education Foundation, said that the society expects CAs to maintain confidentiality, and advise the clients promptly in all aspects of business.
The Chairman of Mangalore branch of ICAI, Mr Murali Mohan, said that the Mangalore branch was established in 1971. It has 467 pro active members and over 1000 students. It regularly conducts programme for members, students and also in respect of topics of public interests and governance, he added.
