A. Revanth Reddy, Telugu Desam MLA from Telangana, who was arrested late Sunday on charges of bribery, has been remanded in custody for 14 days by a local court.

He was arrested last night after a detailed questioning session by the sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau for his alleged effort to bribe a nominated MLA seeking his support for the party in the ensuing council election in the State being held today.

The court has allowed him to take part in elections on a petition filed to permit him to take part in the voting.

TDP leaders and Reddy contended this was part of the conspiracy to frame charges against him and was hatched by the State Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, as Reddy has been voicing concerns against the Government.

He said that the party and its leadership was with him and he would continue to fight against the oppressive K Chandrasekhar Rao Government.

Revanth Reddy has been accused of seeking the support of nominated member Elvis Stephenson by allegedly bribing him. There are reports that Rs 50 lakh was offered to seek his support with a promise to give Rs 5 crore.

The cash for vote scam is seen to have far reaching consequences.

Reddy has been charged under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act and for criminal conspiracy.
