Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the selection of Madurai by the Centre for establishing All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Thoppur, near here. N Jegatheesan, President of the Chamber, in a statement, hailing the decision, said the facility, log espoused by the chamber, estimated to come up at a cost of ₹600 crore on 385 acres of Government land, would facilitate people not only in Madurai but also in other southern districts get world class medical treatment at nominal cost.
