Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has conveyed to his Tamil Nadu counterpart O. Pannerselvam that an enquiry into the red sanders related incident where 20 people were killed will be completed without delay and further necessary action taken accordingly.

In a letter addressed to Panneerselvam, the AP Chief Minister wrote, “I am in receipt of your letter dated April 7, 2015 in which you have expressed your concerns on the incident which took place in Srivarimettu and Eesagunda areas in Sheshachalam forest area in which 20 persons belonging to Tamil Nadu died.”

“In order to ascertain the facts, apart from conducting post-mortem to the dead bodies, we have also ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident. We have provided all necessary assistance in completing the process of delivery of dead bodies of the deceased to their relatives in time,” he wrote.

The letter assumes importance in the backdrop of serious concerns expressed by various political parties on the shooting incident where 20 red sanders smugglers/wood cutters were shot dead by a Special Task Force team during combing operations.

Human rights activities too have raised concerns and notices have been issued to the State about the incident where wood cutters have died.
