The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Coimbatore (ICCIC) has vowed to attract new entrants into farming in a small but meaningful way. And the Chamber's style of doing it is by organising “Uzhave Thalai” - an agri seminar. This seminar, unlike most conferences on agriculture, aims to demystify Agri-Science, such that a non-farmer is able to visualise the fruits of successful farming and is actually enthused to try it.

"The Chamber, through such a conclave, looks to foster the agri-preneurial spirit of the city's populace, apart from providing a platform for urban and weekend farmers to learn from experts in various agricultural domains,” said Vanitha Mohan, President, ICCIC. The second edition of this one-day conclave is scheduled to be held at Hindustan College grounds, Nava India, Coimbatore on June 23.

C Dorairaj, Chairman, Uzhave Thalai, said successful farmers in soil and pest management, multilayer and organic farming, water conservation and agri marketing experts would share their experiences and thoughts with the participants. S. K. M. Maeilanandhan, Chairman, SKM Group, Erode is to inaugurate the conclave. The organisers are expecting over 1,500 visitors (non-farmers) . Over 450 participants have registered for the second edition, said Dorairaj.
