Taking a step towards going paperless, Delhi Metro today launched a website where it will put up digitised official documents for their long term preservation and easy retrieval by staffers.
The website, developed and security audited by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), will be hosted by the NIC server at the National Data Centre at Shastri Park here.
“A part of our constant digitisation efforts, this move would ensure that piles of files do not gather dust and important documents are retrieved through few clicks as and when required for internal use,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation MD Mangu Singh and deputy director general of the National Informatics Centre Rajiv Prakash Saxena launched the website at Metro Bhawan in the presence of senior officials from DMRC and NIC.
Singh appreciated the new endeavour and encouraged all the officers to make optimum use of the new facility.
The NIC will assist DMRC in handling the application software involved in the process during the initial Annual Maintenance Contract period, the spokesperson added.
The DMRC website was recently re-launched with an array of new features such as journey planner, fares and first and last train timings from all stations among others.
