Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), an acknowledged national resource institute for entrepreneurship education, research, training and institution-building, will train around 100 Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SME) entrepreneurs through classroom training, simulation exercises and field exposure.
The Ahmedabad-based Institute will conduct four batches, each of 25 entrepreneurs in July and September, 2018 under Entrepreneur Growth Programmes (EGPs). The duration of each batch is three weeks, EDII said here on Tuesday.
Training will be imparted to Malaysian youth in collaboration with IMS Asia, a Malaysian-based specialist in the area of IT technology training and consulting under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by EDII with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) – or, Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) – under the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of Malaysia.
Sunil Shukla, Director, EDII, said, the Institute will provide hand-holding and mentoring support to Malaysian SME entrepreneurs and work closely with PSMB’s initiative of skill development as a facilitator for boosting the economy of Malaysia. “The partnership is an example of how countries can work together to create job opportunities for the youth, and participate in global sustainable development goals. EDII will help Malaysia harness its inherent strengths and capabilities.”
Through the collaboration, EDII will share its expertise with PSMB to enhance the latter’s trainers in delivering quality training for up-skilling and re-skilling Malaysian women, low household income community and youth. PSMB and EDII will work together in the areas of skill development, re-skilling, entrepreneurship development, capacity building, training and methodology, content development, consulting and research. EDII will hold hands with the Malaysian Government to equip, develop and assist unemployed graduates and school drop-outs with high-end skills and competencies, required by the industries, and will thus enhance their future employability.
PSMB has a mandate by the Government of Malaysia to implement strategic initiatives to empower the quality and employability of the Malaysian human capital to support the Malaysian aspiration of a 35 per cent skilled Malaysian workforce by the year 2020, while creating job opportunities for the locals.
