Gerdau, a producer of long steel in the Americas and one of the major suppliers of special steel, has recently inaugurated a coke oven plant as part of its ongoing expansion and modernisation programme.
This plant, with a capacity of two lakh tonne per annum, has been built at Tadipatri in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 500 crore and a capacity of two lakh tonne per annum.
The plant is designed with advanced technology, which produces enhanced quality of coke with low dust generation, thereby preventing environmental pollution. The coke thus produced would facilitate manufacture high quality special steel.
“Our coke oven project has been successfully completed by following all Gerdau safety standards and giving values to safety above all. Gerdau is committed towards providing safe working environment that demands project excellence and rewards passion for safety performance.” Sridhar Krishnamoorthy, Managing Director, Gerdau Steel India, said in a statement.
“Completing a challenging project as such indicates how well our team engaged together during the project. We take pride in this coke oven project that will benefit our clients’ businesses for decades to come,” he said.
The operation of the new coke oven will help create substantial additional employment opportunities as well as enhance production at the plant.
