A host of top international businessmen and company heads are expected to show up for the wedding of NRI businessman Ravi Pillai’s daughter Arathi, to be held at Kollam, on November 26.
Ravi Pillai, who heads the Dubai-based RP Group of companies which has net assets of $2.4 billion, will be spending Rs 10 crore for charity work, including aid for cancer care, as part of the wedding celebrations.
Company CEOs, representatives of governments and heads of top business families from more than 40 countries will be attending the mega wedding reception. Noted business heads and political and government leaders from various states would also be attending.
The CEOs of Samsung, Japan Gas Corporation and Chiyoda Corporation Japan are some of the business bigwigs coming for the wedding.
Pillai, 62, who hails from Chavara in Kollam district, has built up a business empire that has several companies in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and employs around 80,000 people.
Pillai, one of the wealthiest Indians abroad, was recently chosen as Businessman of the Year by the Arabian Business magazine.
Pillai recently told the media that he would be stepping up investments in India, particularly in Kerala next year. These would mostly be in the IT and hospitality sectors. He would be setting up a five-star hotel at Kozhikode. He would also be interested in investing in mineral exploration in Kerala.
