Trade and industry bodies have welcomed the budget for giving focus on industrial infrastructure and bridging and giving equal focus on rural-urban development.
They have also welcomed the move to set up a Machine Tool Park in Vasanthanarasapura (near Tumkuru) and the allocation of ₹400 crore to KIADB for land acquisition in the Chennai-Bangalore-Chitradurga corridor. This is corridor is expected to spurt industrial development.
Thyagu Valliappa, President, Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), said, “The state budget is in line with the direction set in the Union Budget 2017, the State Budget also provides thrust to rural development. Be it education, health, irrigation, family welfare, sports, horticulture, sericulture, water resources, medical and every sector has a got a budget allocation, quite of few of them populist though, with an eye on the next year’s elections.”
FKCCI“Budget is under difficult circumstances, particularly, due to the severe drought the state faced in the last two years because of which the agricultural production and related economic activities suffered drastically. Due to growing urbanisation there have been heavy demands for providing services to keep up with the demands,” said MC Dinesh, President, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI).
As far as trade and industry is concerned, chief minister heard the pre-budget memoranda submitted by FKCCI and other trade bodies. “We thank him for accepting our proposal to increase the loan amount from ₹50 lakh to ₹2 crore at 4 per cent interest by KSFC to women entrepreneurs,” said Dinesh.
KASSIAPadmanabha, President, Kassia, said, “Our (Kassia) long-standing demand and appeal for a separate directorate for MSMEs has been granted and will go a long-way in giving special focus needed for the development of micro and small enterprises (MSME) in the state, an extremely important sector for employment and incomes to the most vulnerable sections of the society.”
Kassia said it was delighted with the large allocation made to commerce and industries (C&I) department of ₹2,250 crore and welcomes the 25 per cent concession for allotment of sheds to category 1, 2A and 2B entrepreneurs by the KSSIDC.
