PK Vijayakumar, former Director General of income tax investigation at Kochi, has taken over as Insurance Ombudsman for Kerala and Lakshadweep. The ombudsman takes decisions on complaints from policyholders against 52 insurance companies operating in Kerala. The office helps speedy redress of grievances of the policyholders. Vijayakumar, a 1978 batch of Indian Revenue Service officer, had also served as Commissioner of Income Tax at Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai.
