Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is learnt to have instructed his Cabinet colleagues to stay put in the state capital for five days a week during the first six months under the new government.
This is a break from the past when ministers would merrily crisscross the state on various errands rather than be present in their offices at the Secretariat here, putting visitors to difficulty.
The ministers have also been told not to run up huge bills to spruce up their residences. They may take up maintenance works which are unavoidable.
In another decision, the Cabinet has set up a sub-committee to inquire into the 'controversial orders' issued by the previous government from January 1 this year.
Law minister AK Balan will be the convenor of the sub-committee whose members are Thomas Isaac (finance); VS Sunilkumar (agriculture); Mathew T Thomas (water resources); AK Saseendran (transport); and Ramachandran Kadannappally (ports). It has been asked to submit its report at the earliest.
