Kerala will get 266 MW power from Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) in Tamil Nadu when the power plant is commissioned to its full capacity of 2x1000 MW, according to Kerala Electricity Minister Aryadan Muhammad.

The state was informed about this by the Central Power Ministry way back in 2007, Muhammad told the Assembly during the Question Hour today.

The state would get 133 MW of electricity on completion of KNPP’s first phase with a capacity to generate 1000 MW power.

With the completion of the second phase, the state’s total share would increase to 266 MW, he said.

The work of laying 400 KV line to carry power from Kudankulam to Madakkathara near Thrissur had been entrusted with the Power Grid Corporation of India, he said.
