German wholesale major Metro Cash & Carry marked its entry into Uttar Pradesh by opening its first outlet in the state capital today.
Terming Uttar Pradesh as “a key state” in its expansion strategy, Managing Director of Metro Cash & Carry (India) Arvind Mediratta said the company intends to widen footprint beyond Lucknow.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav inaugurated the 55,000-sq ft wholesale store.
He made a mention of the range and variety of products the outlet has on offer for business-to-business customers and welcomed the investment.
Metro has tied up with farmers and regional suppliers to present an assortment tailored to meet local business needs, Mediratta said.
It has invested approximately Rs 60 crore in the store, which is expected to create some 300 direct or indirect jobs.
