The Odisha Government is currently pursuing 74 industrial projects entailing an investment of more than Rs 2 lakh crore and it will give a big boost to the brand image of the State, according to Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary, Industries.
He was addressing the media here on Thursday after participating in an interactive session with local entrepreneurs.
He said Odisha was pursuing business-friendly policies and promoting ease of doing business. "Apart from the ease of doing business, the cost of doing business in our State is much less and we expect enterprising AP businessmen to make use of the opportunities," he said.
He said the State had two major ports, Paradip and Dhamra, and good industrial infrastructure. The rich metal and mineral resources can be exploited.
"We are encouraging entrepreneurs to set up units in the State to add value to the State itself. We are giving many incentives and we are clearing all hassles," he explained.
Recently, he said, the Odisha Government had cleared a proposal from a Vizag-based company, Coastal Corporation Ltd, to set up a unit at a seafood park in Deras. The company would invest Rs 51 crore in the unit, generating 300 jobs. He urged other AP entrepreneurs to set up units at the food processing sector in Odisha.
Chopra said tourism was another area the State Government was focusing on, apart from the IT sector.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, CMD of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, said world-class industrial infrastructure was being built up in the four investment regions in the State and in the many sector-specific industrial clusters coming up in the State.
