Over 3,000 graduates from different disciplines have secured placements in job fairs organised by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce (FAPCCI) in the last one year.

The industry body had organised 14 job fairs in different parts of the State in association with Rajiv Education and Employment Mission in Andhra Pradesh (REEMAP).

This was disclosed by Shiv Kumar Rungta, Vice-President, FAPCCI, at the job fair 2012 success meet held here on Saturday.

The job fairs were conducted in Warangal, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Karimnagar, Mahabugnagar and Visakhapatnam by roping in the locally reputed colleges, he said.

“The job-aspirants need to develop soft skills to suit various requirements of the industry,’’ Rungta said.

FAPCCI had started this initiative for the first time as part of its corporate social responsibility and would scale-up the efforts going forward, he added.

K.C. Reddy, Chairman, REEMAP said the existing skill-gap needed to bridged by a collaborative approach.

“Today, we have a bulging young population and shrinking jobs in the Government sector,’’ Reddy said adding that skill-sets were vital to get placements in the private sector.
