With the failing health of fasting Team Anna members, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai, the Delhi Police on Wednesday advised them immediate hospitalisation.

In a letter to Team Anna, the Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), K.C Dwivedi, told the organisers that if anything untoward happened, they would be held “squarely responsible”.

A team of doctors from the Government-owned Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital has been monitoring the health of the fasting members. It has advised immediate medical intervention and hospitalisation, the police said.

However, Kejriwal said he was feeling weak but all his parameters were fine. He said he saw a conspiracy and does not trust the doctors. He called upon hundreds of supporters to ensure that he was out of hospital, if forcibly admitted.

Team Anna activist Shazia Ilmi alleged that they had information that Kejriwal would be removed at night. The police, however, denied the allegation. The fast of the three activists entered the eighth day on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Anna Hazare, who is also on fast, threatened that if the activists were forcibly removed, he would not negotiate with the Government.

In his letter, Dwivedi said Team Anna’s continued fasting, resistance to accepting medical intervention and announcing from the dais that there would be dire consequences following forcible removal was not according to the terms and conditions that were mutually agreed upon and may lead to adverse law and order situation.

He pointed out that Team Anna had given an undertaking on July 7 that they would abide by all lawful directions by any police officer at any stage of the agitation.
