The Congress alleged here on Monday that the Centre is trying to turn Arunachal Pradesh into a second Kashmir by destroying the peace in the State. Condemning the recent incidents of violence and firing at tribal people, the party urged the Centre to ensure peace in the bordering State at the earliest.
Party leaders Takam Sanjoy, Nabam Tuki and AICC general secretary Luizinho Faleiro urged Home Minister Rajnath Singh to constitute a judicial commission of enquiry on firing and killing of innocent protesters.
They have also urged the Centre to sack Chief Minister Prema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Minister of State in Union Cabinet Kiran Rijiju. “It is a matter of shame that your Deputy Rijiju, who represents the Arunachal West constituency, has been indifferent to the sensitivities of the people, discarding blatantly his constitutional obligations to safeguard the interests and safety of his people. The Chief Minister of the State and his entire Cabinet is out of the State Capital and has shown no seriousness in tackling the situation,” they said in the letter.
The Congress leaders told reporters that the BJP government in the State has let hell loose on the people of Arunachal Pradesh. “A simple issue called Permanent Resident Certificate has angered the people,” Faleiro said.
