But for the assertion that Kerala will be liberated from alcohol in 10 years, and the promise of a slew of goodies such as bicycles for poor high school girls, the poll manifesto of the UDF is old wine in a new bottle. The manifesto, released in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday by top leaders such as CM Oommen Chandy, Congress State head VM Sudheeran and Muslim League leader PK Kunhalikkutty, contains a lot of promises already made by parties elsewhere. Many are updated versions of the UDF promises in the past. So liberal is the manifesto with promises that it even vows to offer “uncontaminated air, water and food.”
